King Soopers employees are still dealing with trauma
It has been over two months since the Boulder Table Mesa tragedy. However, the after-effects are still felt by the community and employees.
According to a recent Daily Camera article, employees shared that they are still traumatized by the experience, even if they were not there.
Courtesy Clerk, Jason Vega, is quoted as saying that he is “still kind of in denial when I think about it.” He had arrived to work after the incident but did not know the extent of the fatalities.
As employees continue to heal, King Soopers and other organizations like Mental Health Partners continue to help the victims and survivors, and the community.
Boulder officials, King Soopers, and Mental Health Partners are aware that the community needs time to heal and process what happened to move forward. The #BoulderStrong Resource Center continues to help the community move through this healing journey by offering counseling and other therapeutic services such as acupuncture, massage, and comfort dogs.
For employees like Jason Vega, “Holding it in didn’t help me. It did more harm than good. (Talking) has helped me process it in a healthy way.” The #BoulderStrong Resource Center welcomes anyone impacted by the Boulder Table Mesa tragedy to visit and utilize their services. The center offerings go well beyond therapy. It offers different levels of support, so people are treated according to their needs and what they want.
