Six weeks since the shooting, community trauma expected to persist

Boulder Weekly addresses a critical issue in their reporting.

According to the Boulder Weekly, the traumatic impact of the Table Mesa King Soopers shooting is still hitting the Boulder community. The national media is no longer covering the story, having moved on to the next tragedy. But for the Boulder community, the impact will be felt for months and years to come. Dr. Janine D’Anniballe, director of trauma services at Mental Health Partners (MHP), is quoted in the story as saying, "I think we need to remember that the trauma impact lingers long after it’s out of the headline.”

#BoulderStrong King Soopers Memorial

Mental Health Partners has been working with King Soopers to address the needs of associates, customers, community members and first responders by staffing and operating the #BoulderStrong Resource Center. Kevin Braney, the lead of MHP’s incident command team, tells the Boulder Weekly that in the first three weeks, 273 people had come through the doors for assistance.
